Coolpad sells 50,000 7-inch CoolPad Halo phones in 18 seconds!

Think Xiaomi are the only ones able to sell out stock of their latest phones in a few seconds? Think again as Coolpad managed to ship 50,000 phones in only 18 seconds!

The CoolPad Halo was seen at CES and packs a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 display, 8-core processor, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 4000mAh battery and costs a mere 1888 Yuan here in China. With such hardware, plus the added benefit of being a 3G connected phablet/phone, customers across China acted quickly when the first batch of devices went on sale!

Gizchina News of the week

A similar fast sell out is expected with the launch of the CoolPad Halo F1 when it launches, due to an octacore chipset and low 888 Yuan price tag!

I hope this is a sign of many more 7 inch 1920×1200 octacore 3G/LTE capable devices to come, even from other manufacturers 🙂

Small tablets are going through a rennaisance these days it seems… I mean they insist calling them phones/phablets but really they are nexus 7 competitors, but actually cheaper and more attractive (small bezels, cheaper, more powerful, phone calls).

I hope the trend would lead to larger tablets as well, 7 inch is close to “too small” for me, but 8.x is just fine, small enough to carry in large pockets if you minimize the bezels, large enough to be your personal mini computer for most things… Can’t wait…

Where are these coolpad phones available? Is there any official seller?

Product looks great but really this artificial supply limiting trend going on in china is extremely annoying to the consumer. I’ve been trying to buy the xiaomi battery for example and their website (xiaomi.tw) always ends up having massive stability problems on sales day and tons of upset fans. Really hope this trend dies unless they’re actually offering a special of some sort.

International buyers that live in 4G areas would/could buy up all the phones IF they were 4G enabled. Just because the country of origin is slow to roll out 4G, & not including it in devices until later is just plain missing the boat & stupid, regardless of my run on sentences LOL!… Not to mention frustrating would be customers… I would love to buy several of these BUT I live in a 4G area.

Would you buy a Lamborghini if it could only go as fast as a model-T Ford? Probably not LOL… Would you let someone sell you a fancy irrigation system for your 500 acres farm IF it could only irrigate through a garden hose? Probably not… Heres another good one related to batteries, would you buy an electric car, like the Chevy Volt, if you could only drive it for a 1/2 an hour per charge, probably not…
