OPPO Find X10 Series Brings a New Focus on Eye Protection With 1-Nit Displays

According to a new report, OPPO will focus more on the displays of its next flagship phones. The highly anticipated Oppo Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max are expected to introduce a new generation of eye-protection screens. The new hardware-level changes aim to reduce blue light without sacrificing color quality.

The biggest claim is a 38% reduction in harmful blue light compared with previous generations. OPPO is also pairing that with an ultra-wide color gamut, suggesting that the company is not treating eye comfort as an excuse to compromise on image quality.

The new panels are described as 1-nit eye-protection screens. The low brightness level should help in dark environments, where an overly bright display can be uncomfortable, while the hardware-level approach to blue-light reduction is more interesting.

According to the information released so far, the Oppo Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max can cut harmful blue light emissions by 38% compared with earlier displays. Because the reduction happens at the hardware level, it does not rely only on a software filter that changes the screen's colors. That could make a difference for people who spend several hours staring at the phone's display, regardless of the intention or use-scenario.

Of course, eye comfort depends on more than blue-light output. For perspective, the brightness, viewing distance, ambient lighting, and usage time still matter. Still, reducing blue light without heavily affecting the picture is a useful direction for a flagship display.
