OnePlus has
launched the
Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro in China, and both phones are built for gaming. They combine a 185Hz display with a built-in cooling fan and a huge 9,000mAh battery.
The two models share most of their hardware, but there are some key differences. The Pro gets a faster graphics setup and a zoom camera, while the standard Ace 7 costs less.
A screen that reaches 185Hz
Both phones use a 6.78-inch LTPO display. The screen can reach 185Hz in supported games, while normal use runs at up to 165Hz. This means smoother motion in games, menus and scrolling.
The phones also have a dedicated display chip to help keep fast-moving images clear. OnePlus has designed them for long gaming sessions, so cooling is just as important as screen speed.
Built-in fans help control heat
The
Ace 7 series is among the few phone ranges with active cooling fans inside the body. The Ace 7 Pro uses a dual-airflow system to cool both the main chip and the back of the phone. This should help reduce heat during long gaming sessions.
Both phones also use a large vapor chamber to move heat away from the chip. OnePlus says its cooling system can lower chip temperatures by up to 10°C during gaming.
The Pro gets a faster chip and better zoom
The Ace 7 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The standard Ace 7 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series. It has the same CPU design, but a weaker graphics setup. This makes it the less powerful option for games.
Both phones have a 200MP main camera. The Pro adds a 50MP periscope camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The standard model instead has an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
Huge batteries and China prices
Both models pack a 9,000mAh battery and support 100W wired charging. They also have IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance.
The OnePlus Ace 7 starts at 4,399 yuan (about $655) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Ace 7 Pro starts at 4,799 yuan (about $715) for the same memory setup. OnePlus has not confirmed a global launch.
The Ace 7 series looks like a strong option for mobile gamers. The fan and large battery stand out, but the Pro’s zoom camera may also appeal to people who take lots of photos.
