iQOO Neo12 Launches With a 9,000mAh Battery and 185Hz Display

iQOO has launched the Neo12 in China, and it brings two features that stand out: a huge 9,000mAh battery and a 185Hz display. The phone also has a built-in cooling fan, making it clear that gaming is a major focus.

Inside, it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. iQOO has also added a second chip to improve gaming graphics and keep frame rates smooth.

The Neo12 has a 6.83-inch AMOLED display made by Visionox. It offers 2K resolution, a refresh rate of up to 185Hz and peak brightness of 2,200 nits. This should make games look smooth while keeping the screen easy to read outdoors.

A dedicated display chip helps handle the high refresh rate. The phone also has a Q3 gaming chip, which can improve game graphics, boost resolution and create extra frames in supported titles.

The Neo12 has a built-in fan with 59 blades. iQOO says the fan improves airflow by around 10%. It works with a large vapor chamber to move heat away from the chip during long gaming sessions.

Active cooling is still rare in regular smartphones. It could help the Neo12 maintain high performance for longer, although real-world tests will show how much difference it makes.

The phone packs a 9,000mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging. That is a large battery for a phone of this type, and it should help users spend more time gaming or watching videos between charges.

The rear camera setup is simpler. It has a 50MP Sony IMX921 main camera with optical image stabilization, plus an 8MP ultra-wide camera. A 16MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.

Other features include an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screen, stereo speakers, an infrared sensor and an IP69 rating for water and dust protection.

The iQOO Neo12 is already available in China in three colors: Contender, Frost Blade Blue and Shadow Black. Prices start at 4,199 yuan (about $630) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model.

The top version comes with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage for 6,299 yuan (about $945). iQOO has not announced a global launch yet.

The Neo12 looks like a strong choice for mobile gamers who want a fast screen and a big battery. Its built-in fan is also an interesting addition, but the camera setup is more basic than its gaming hardware.
