OnePlus has
started rolling out
Android 17 to more of its devices ahead of schedule. But there is a major change this year: the update brings OPPO’s
ColorOS 17 instead of
OxygenOS.
The rollout began on October 22, ahead of the planned October 29 start. The
OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 were first in line. Now, more phones have joined the list, giving owners of older models a reason to check for updates.
These OnePlus devices are getting Android 17
The current list includes six devices. The update is rolling out in stages, so not every owner will receive it at the same time.
- OnePlus 15
- OnePlus 15R
- OnePlus 13
- OnePlus 13s
- OnePlus 13R
- OnePlus Pad 4
The update is based on Android 17 and uses ColorOS 17. OnePlus is moving away from
OxygenOS as part of a wider change to its software plans.
What changes with ColorOS 17?
ColorOS 17 brings a fresh look, smoother animations and a new Quick Settings panel. It also aims to keep apps running more smoothly when you switch between them.
The update adds more AI tools, too. These include features that can spot fake voices in scam calls and detect face swaps during video chats. Some tools may vary by device, so not every model will get every feature.
For OnePlus users, the biggest change is the move from OxygenOS to ColorOS. The two systems already share much of their design and code, so the new look may feel familiar. Still, the change marks a new chapter for the brand’s software.
How to check for the update
You can check for Android 17 by opening Settings > System & Updates > Software update. If the update is not available yet, you may need to wait.
OnePlus releases major updates in batches. Your country, device and current software version can affect when it arrives.
The rollout will expand to more models in November and continue into early 2027. For now, owners of the six devices above should keep an eye on their update settings.
