OnePlus has
confirmed a key feature of its upcoming Ace 7 series ahead of its October 29 launch in China. Both the
OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro will use the company’s latest 185Hz Oriental Screen, bringing a very high refresh rate to more than just gaming.
The display is developed with
BOE and uses custom X4 luminescent material. OnePlus says this improves clarity and transparency, while a new LTPO circuit helps the screen handle its high refresh rate.
165Hz for daily use, 185Hz for games
The screen supports refresh rates of up to 165Hz across the system. That includes everyday tasks such as scrolling, opening menus and moving between apps. Compatible games can push the refresh rate up to 185Hz.
This is an important difference. The phones do not simply reserve their highest refresh rate for the home screen or a few select menus. Instead, the display can offer smoother motion across daily use, while supported games can take advantage of the full 185Hz mode.
OnePlus has also added its Super Display Chip P4 to handle high-frame-rate content and help keep motion clear. The company says its Bright Eyes Protection feature, developed with MedSight and Vision, is designed to make long screen sessions more comfortable.
What else do we know?
The Ace 7 series will include two models, the Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro, both powered by chips from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 family. OnePlus has also confirmed a dual-airflow cooling system designed to cool the processor and the rear panel separately.
The phones are expected to focus heavily on gaming performance. Earlier reports point to 9,000mAh batteries, but buyers will need to wait for the launch to learn the full specifications and prices.
Launch date confirmed
OnePlus will unveil the Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro in China on October 29. Reservations are already open through the company’s Chinese store, but there is no confirmed global launch plan yet.
The 185Hz screen could be one of the series’ biggest selling points, especially for mobile gamers. Still, refresh rate alone does not guarantee a better experience. Battery life, heat control and game support will matter just as much.
