OnePlus introduced its SUPERVOOC 67W power bank in China on October 12, alongside the
OnePlus 16. The device costs 229 yuan, or around $32, and will go on sale in China on October 21. It is the brand's first power bank with a display and meets China's new national safety standard.
The Display Shows Charging Power and Battery Life
The
OnePlus SUPERVOOC power bank has a color TFT display that shows the remaining battery capacity and current charging power. It also estimates how long charging or discharging will take.
These figures give users a better idea of how quickly a connected device is charging and how much power remains in the bank. According to teaser information, the power bank has a 10,000mAh capacity in a slim, pocket-sized design.
However, a color display is not unique to this model. The Ugreen P7, for example, offers a 20,000mAh capacity, a display, and charging speeds of up to 45W. It costs 269 yuan, or around $38.
The OnePlus model is 40 yuan cheaper, but it has half the capacity and a higher maximum output of 67W. Its main selling point is therefore charging speed rather than capacity.
SUPERVOOC, USB PD, and PPS Support
The power bank supports 67W SUPERVOOC charging, USB Power Delivery at up to 45W, and PPS at up to 55W. Actual charging speeds depend on the connected device and the charging protocol it supports.
It can also charge some USB-C laptops, particularly models with lower power requirements. More demanding laptops will charge more slowly, and the power bank may not provide enough power to keep their batteries charging under heavy workloads.
For OnePlus phone owners, SUPERVOOC support is particularly useful. Other compatible devices can use USB PD or PPS instead. The power bank itself supports recharging at up to 40W.
Safety Features and Price: The Display Comes at a Cost
OnePlus says the power bank meets China's new national safety standard and has passed five safety tests. However, the available information does not explain the individual tests in enough detail to assess their practical benefits.
Its price is also relatively high for the capacity. The older OnePlus SUPERVOOC 120W power bank offered 15,000mAh for 299 yuan, or around $42. The new model has one-third less capacity but costs only 70 yuan less.
That makes the new power bank more expensive per unit of capacity. Buyers are effectively paying extra for its display, charging information, and higher maximum output.
OnePlus has announced that it will stop launching new products in U.S. and Europe. An official U.S. or European release of the SUPERVOOC power bank therefore appears unlikely, although overseas retailers and independent importers may still offer it.
