POCO
unveiled the
POCO X8 earlier this year, and some fans of this lineup found it underwhelming. The device features the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, which delivers only average in terms of performance. Apparently, POCO is moving on to launch an improved variant in the form of the POCO X8s.
POCO X8s Coming Soon For Global Markets
Today, the rumored POCO X8s was approved by Singapore's IMDA for certification. The listing confirms POCO as the brand and Xiaomi Electronics as the applicant. The descriptions are generic and tease a "5G mobile phone with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC". What is more interesting is the model number 2609CPC5FG, which gives a clue about what to expect.
According to past rumors, this exact model number will be sold as the POCO X8s. It is planned for Europe, Turkey, Russia, and other global markets, except India. We don't know exactly why POCO is leaving the phone out of the Indian market. Perhaps it is to not canibalize the sales of another model.
A Chinese variant is also underway with model number M583CF, but it will be sold under the Redmi brand. Interestingly, the "2609" part of the model number points to September 2026, so the phone could be a bit late on its schedule.
Rumored Specs Indicate the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4
Unfortunately, not much is known regarding the hardware of the phone. But rumors already say it will be an improved variant with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset paired with 12GB of RAM and will run Android 16 straight out of the box.
POCO has yet to disclose details about the launch of this smartphone. Considering the number of leaks, it could arrive sometime this month or next. It should be cheaper than the POCO X8 Pro series and just a little more expensive than the non-S variant.
