Xiaomi Launches POCO X8 Globally Featuring Massive 8340mAh Battery and Snapdragon 6s Gen 4

Xiaomi has officially announced the global release of the POCO X8. It's a more affordable phone, but it comes with a surprisingly big 8340mAh battery and some solid hardware to go with it.

The battery is probably the most interesting part of the phone. An 8340mAh cell is huge by smartphone standards, so the POCO X8 should have no problem lasting through a long day. For people who spend a lot of time watching videos, browsing social media or playing games, that extra capacity could be pretty useful.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. It's not a high-end chip, but it should be fine for normal everyday use. There's also a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is quite large, and the 120Hz mode should make scrolling and animations feel smoother.

The main rear camera also has optical image stabilization, or OIS. That's a nice addition at this price, as it can help with shaky photos and videos, especially when you're shooting in less stable conditions.

Durability is another area where the POCO X8 stands out. It has IP68 and IP69K ratings, meaning it's well protected against dust and water. That's not something you always see on cheaper phones.

The European version comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with a price of around 2492 Yuan. That puts it firmly in the affordable part of the market.

The POCO X8 isn't trying to compete with expensive flagships on raw performance. Instead, Xiaomi seems to be going after people who want a phone that can last a long time on one charge and doesn't need to be treated like it's made of glass. The huge battery, AMOLED screen, OIS and IP68/IP69K protection make it a pretty interesting package for the money.
