vivo has published a near-term upgrade plan for
OriginOS 7, and it is mostly about the camera.
According to Expirience more on weibo, the plan runs from October 29 to late December. It covers new camera color styles, a redesigned camera app, floating control updates and a color palette sharing tool. It applies to the vivo X300 and X200 series, the iQOO 15 series and the iQOO 13. Not every phone gets every feature on the same day.
What Arrives First
On October 29, the vivo X300 Pro, X300 and the X200 series begin receiving six new camera color styles. They are Chasing Light, Rich, Cool White, and three “humanistic” styles named Street, Portrait and Life. The names are translated from Chinese. The iQOO 15 series, iQOO 13 and X Fold5 wait until late December for the new styles. In the first week of November, floating-control updates reach apps such as Phone, Contacts, Messages, Weather, Settings and Email on every phone running OriginOS 7. Video apps follow in week two.
The Camera App Redesign
In the second week of November, the redesigned camera interface reaches the X300 series, including the X300 Ultra, and the
iQOO 15 series. The update lets you customize the first screen and adds a new toolbox panel. One report says it brings the vivo and iQOO camera apps closer together. The X200 series and the iQOO 13 wait until mid-December. Week three brings album editing updates, including batch removal of watermarks and a straighten tool.
Palette Sharing Comes Last
The camera palette arrives in late December. It lets you share a custom look and save it as a new style. It covers the X300 and X200 series, the iQOO 15 series, the iQOO 13 and the X Fold5.
What the Update Cannot Fix
An X300 will not turn into an X500 after this update. The sensors and lenses stay the same, and one Chinese review says so directly: the update brings the same features, not the same image quality. The plan also has critics. Some Chinese users say the floating controls should have shipped with OriginOS 7 itself, and that owners of older phones wait too long for the new camera app. The dates are weekly targets, so a phone may get a feature a few days late. The plan covers China, and the sources give no dates for global versions.
