Exclusive: Upcoming Elephone comes with 2K display, Intel SoC, IMX230 and Windows/Android OS!

elephone leak 2k phone

This week a number of Chinese phone brands made the short trip over to Hong Kong for the Global Source Mobile Electronics Fair. Among them was Elephone who showed a mystery 2K flagship phone to customers.

Elephone took up a large booth at the Hong Kong trade fair where they had on show some of their most popular phones along with some upcoming devices like the Elephone P7000, Elephone G9 and a new mystery device.

We had heard rumours that Elephone would be releasing another high end device this year, but didn’t really have the details until today when our source sent us photos of the show and specification details of this upcoming Elephone beast.

According to our source this new Elephone (seen in gold on the photos) features a 2K display, 4GB RAM, touch ID fingerprint security, and an Intel processor marking the first time Elephone have moved away from Mediatek. Our source goes on to tell us that both Android 5.0 and Windows 10 will be available for this phone! It’s unsure if this will be a dual boot set up or if two versions of the phone with alternate OS will be available.

elephone leak 2k phone

In the camera department Elephone will be using a Sony IMX 230 21 mega-pixel sensor on the rear, the front camera details are on unknown.

The above render seems to show quite a slim phone with alloy body and narrow bezels. We have reached out to Elephone official to see if we can get further details and possibly a name and launch date for this new device.

Cast your mind back to August 2014 and the P 1000 – didn’t happen. The P4000 didn’t happen. Don’t hold your breath! New soc maker = new problems because they have no experience with them. New OS = problems for same reason. They’ve struggled with lollipop like many other Chinese manufacturers.

Yes, I meant they have no experience of working with Intel, but the outcome would depend largely on Intel support.

Chinese developers seem to get better and better each year on providing a sort of stable Android version for their MediaTek phones. Now with another SoC you are totally right on fearing they might struggle again. On the other hand, knowing Intel..they could start mayor campaigns to introduce easy programming for the Intel Soc.

That’s interesting, demonstrates how complex the phone industry is there. I guess some brands never actually make a device themselves, for all I know, Elephone may not even have a production line of their own, just warehouses and packaging facilities.

Most brands don’t make the phones themsleves they use what are called OEM’s. For the Elephone P4000 the OEM was KVD, which also made the No.1 Mi4, Doogee Hitman and a few other Mi4 clones. KVD actually owns the Doogee brand. Apple and Xiaomi use Foxconn to manufacture their phones. Gionee is both an OEM and a brand.

The brand (Xiaomi, Elephone etc) designs the phones, selects the components etc. The OEM builds and packages it.

Thanks, do you know what Mlais position is? And perhaps that also explains why for example ulefone had advertised the Be progressing with a Sony 13mp camera then had to apologise for some only getting 8mp ov. Though I thought ulefone were an oem themselves.

I have two thoughts on the Ulefone Sony fiasco:

              1. They originally intended to order Sony sensors and at the last minute changed it for some unknown reason. The marketing team was never told about the change and went ahead advertising a Sony sensor.

              2. They outright lied and hoped no one would catch them. Wouldn’t be the first time a Chinese phone company stretched the truth.

Ulefone seems to be very open and honest with the community since they were caught so it really could have been an honest mistake or could have been deceit. I have no clue with Ulefone or Mlais. Often very little is advertised about which OEM the company uses. Some brands will use multiple OEM’s for different products.

Intel is heavily discounting its atom SOCs to grab marketshare its really very competitively priced it wouldn’t surprise me if we see a lot more intel based phones in the future. At least, until Intel stops the discounts.
The intel atoms are quite decent chips the previous iterations did overheat and had power management problems that’s why not many phones used them and were relegated to tablet soc. From memory I think only the lenovo k900 and a couple others used it from the new models are quite powerful, the zenphone 2s are getting really good reviews I would have bought one except for the massive side bezels are really a turn off. If this new phone can have think bezels like in the meizu mx4s I would buy it.

I agree. Although the MT6795 seems a good processor; I am happy with the higher 2.2Ghz quad-core (+the 4 extra cores) because I personally believe in less cores with higher frequencies than an octacore with lower. At least untill people start building apps that truly benefits from more cores. (more than 4 that is). The IMG G6200 @700mhz doesn’t get much love from the user though, people don’t seem to happy with it when it comes to gaming on FHD displays.

So, maybe the Intel can make a difference here. And on a other perspective; it’s just cool to have another technical aspect in my gadgets. I have used so many Mediatek phones, maybe an Intel would be cool too ;D

“That Intel SoC is rather slow”. You know this how? If it really does have a 20MP camera it would have to be the new Cherry Trail series of SoC’s from Intel. The only one that supports a camera of that size is the X7 series. The Zenphone 2 uses the older Moorefield chips. No adroid device available uses a Cherry Trail SoC.

Is this some kind of joke? Have you seen the Windows store, its composed of nothing but scam apps and total fluff they refuse to remove in order to boost their app count.

Why somebody wants to be once again shackled to Microsoft makes me shake my head, do you want to once again pay 100$ for a license when Android is more customizable and superior in every way, for free?

Hahaha be quiet robot you can stick to your fragmented, malware, laggy phone and also be proud of Google spying on your Gmail. Most of apps are fine on WP store compare to Android store full of virues and buggy apps. WP 10 coming soon and its going to take off great. I guess if you don’t mind missing out on several of the most popular apps, hate having any options to customize your phone, and love knowing that M$oft is allowing the NSA to control your camera, much like they do with Kinect then Windows 10 is for you all the way!

You do realize you have been able to sync all your devices in Android for quite some time now? This is Windows once again catching up to something that has been available on every other platform.

M$oft was so desperate for Apps they offered to pay developers for any apps at all, which led to thousands of fake apps. Business Insider did an entire article on M$oft’s fake app problem in Decemeber. They even found many of the fake apps were on the top 100 most popular.

By the most recent count Android and iOS each have about 1.5 million apps available, Windows has just 535,000 of which only 385,000 are exclusive to mobile.

You claim most of the popular apps are available on Windows yet according to actual Windows Phone users the following are not: Snapchat, Tinder, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Sports, Camera 360, Google Maps, Bank of America, Starbucks, Sirius/XM, Nike+, Vudu, HBOGO, State Farm, Clash of Clans, Discover Card, Dunkin Donuts, Go Daddy, Blackboard.

It’s a shame too because some of the Windows Phones aren’t that bad. Goodluck if you want to do any mobile banking on Windows Phone it seems virtually every bank is missing.

“Windows store going be awesome which is awesome”. We have been hearing this from M$oft fan boys for at least the past 5 years. Still waiting for it to be “awesome which is awesome”.

The funniest part of this whole exchange is you think I love Google the way you do M$oft. I could care less about Google, other than Android. I can admit that every big tech business is guilty of spying, your weekly paycheck from M$oft means you are not allowed to admit or accept that M$oft is the dirtiest of the bunch.

M$oft was caught allowing the NSA to hack peoples Kinect cameras. Guess your bosses at M$oft didn’t explain that. I have already proven that the Windows store is missing several of the most popular apps. You completely glanced over that. Google and Apple both have a lot of great apps that simply aren’t available on Windows. That is not an opinion it is a fact. As for the apps containing viruses, there are dozens of free anti-virus software options available for Android. I have never had a single real app that had a virus.

Your bosses at M$oft need to update their talking points for Windows vs Android…

Love how it will all sync to my devices not like Android which can’t.

      Read it and weap boy:

You don’t have to worry about because there are virtually no banking apps for Windows, or any other apps for that matter. As for malware I haven’t had a single app that was malware in all my years using Android. But I have seen countless of forum posts from Windows users about tall the fake apps in the Windows store.

Android malware is on the rise.

According to Symantec’s latest Internet Security Threat Report, β€œ17 percent of all Android apps (nearly one million total) were actually malware in disguise.” In 2013, Symantec uncovered roughly 700,000 virus-laden apps.
