UMi’s TCL made eMax Mini has been given an official launch price of only $139.99 with a release date later this month.

UMi are following up the eMax with another model made by OEM TCL. TCL are the same company behind Alcatel OneTouch who are gaining popularity in the U.S and Europe for their high-quality and affordable phones.

The UMi eMax Mini will come under the UMi name, but feature the same low-cost and high-quality ideals as TCL’s other phones at a cost of only $139.99.

Gizchina News of the week

Interestingly the low-cost UMi eMax Mini will take a departure away from low-cost Mediakek processors and use a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. This will be the first time we see a UMi phone with Qualcomm processor, the chip in question is likely a Snapdragon 410 or similar.

Other specification highlight include a 5-inch FHD display from manufacturer JDI, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, 8 mega-pixel Samsung front camera and 13 mega-pixel Sony rear camera. Just like the original eMax, the Mini will be a big battery phone boasting a 3000mAh cell.

We’ll have more UMi eMax mini news soon so keep posted.

Being TCL 3s, the chipset is sd615.
As I said for the TCL variant, this is a best buy for the price (which is also a tenner lower now, making it even more desirable!)

Ironically this would be a lot more desirable if it did have a mediatek chipset!

Just want to point out that although it’s an OEM, it still might not be exactly the same as the TCL 3S, there is a chance that there will be differences between the two.

For example, the UMi eMax has a different main camera and baseband than the TCL M2M, that is why when they hastily ported the M2M’s Lollipop 5.0 rom (after releasing a Lollipop 5.1 teaser for it), the camera and network signal were not working (after they assured everyone since July 18 that they were working hard on it and now left it hanging probably it’s on the same page as the Hammer Lollipop 5.0 rom, DED). I’d assume they ported the M2M rom around July then left it there while they were busy with the Iron.

Although I still like my eMax even if its camera is crap.
