Elephone have released their first update for the Elephone Vowney, but don’t wait for an OTA as this is a manual update.
The update for the Elephone Vowney is still based on Android 5.1 and can be downloaded from the official Elephone forums here. At this time Elephone haven’t provided a change log for the update so we’ll assume it’s a minor update with just a few stability and perofmance fixes.

While I had the chance to speak to Elephone I also asked if rumours that the Vowney was to be cancelled and replaced with the Elephone P9000 were true (apparently these rumours have sparked up again). Elephone say its not true and manufacture of the Vowney will re-commence after the Chinese New Year celebrations.

That is still bad. This is a phone that was originally supposed to launch in June, they should have had more than enough stock manufactured by this point.
If I were them I would have cancelled and gone with the Vowney Pro as the Vowney.
The rumour which was pretty much truth, was the Vowney was to be replaced with the P9000 Edge.
I still think the Vowney hardware is good value even if they dropped the e-touch button and put it in the P9000. The big test now is if the community surrounding it can grow. It could be crippled by lack owner-base, or Elephone simply being restrictive with software updates.
In short supplies. Customers will be more furious when they read that production will start ‘again’ after the 15th of February. Note many are waiting for the 31st of January for their orders.
Many are going to cancel their orders and buy one of the numerous better phones available.
Now imagine those resellers that have been holding up customers with the pre-sale bs and have to refund most of these customers and take a bad feedback for something they have no responsibility whatsoever.
Could lead to a lot of resellers dropping Elephone from their sites. This could end up being a PR nightmare for Elephone.

The Ivory and Vowney were scheduled to be cancelled before the new year but so many people had pre-paid for Vowneys they decided to fulfil orders. The ivory more or less had no orders.
Vowney stock is currently non-existent with mainly special clients and those threatening to cancel orders, getting the phones.
It’s good to see they are finally supporting updates.

i like the drama elephone brings, they make things spicy, if they were to shut down i would truly miss them :'(, i am a fan of the company not for the phone but the drama lol
Yah I will also truly MISS them as there will not even be any shitty Beta roms. Actually already given up on them and my last 3 phones for my family have been RedMi.

my wife has an ulefone paris. as from 3 months she got allready 4 updates by OTA and Marshmallow is around the corner. I with my elephone P6000 is still waiting for the promised lollipop by OTA for more then a year. shamefull elephone!! But I know the reason: IF you do it by yourself and somethings going wrong….. it’s your own fault!
Hahaha. Elephone never gives Updates… Only some Beta shit, you need to install yourself!! I have an ECOO E04 Plus and all the ROMs for this phone are really bad! The phone is a complete shit and the company doesn’t care! Thank you Elephone for “stealing” my $185… (ECOO is made by Elephone)
You may laugh now but in 2-3 years you ll miss them for sure. All the promises ,the artificial hype ,the ‘flaghsips’ of the month, the crowdfounding ,the talking about something that never was or never will be. They bring romanticism to the industry, promise you the moon from the sky and then fail to deliver.Their optimism is their worst enemy.I apreciate their passion and their dreams and i imagine them making plans about teasers of the 4 th flagship of the year while other release decent phones without all the noise. I love the news about them and just that.
