The Ministry of Railways and California’s
Bay Area Council have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for investing in California's future high-speed rail
network.
The
MOU was signed by
Govonor Schwarzengger as he visited
Shanghai this past week where he met with government officials.
The plan is for
China to build bullet
trains for the
new network which will be completed 2020 at a
cost of over $40 Billion.
During his visit the former Hollywood star took a ride on one of Shanghai's super
fast passanger
trains and visited the manufacturing base of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co, where the steel deck segments of the
new eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge are being manufactured.
