China successfully launched the Beidou compass satellite in the early hours of this morning, marking both the 7th launch of a navigational satellite by China and the 136th flight for the country’s Long March series of rockets.
The new satellite will be eventually be joined by a total of 30 satellites which will be used to operate China’s own GPS system instead of relying on the U.S network.
