Lenovo S880i 5-inch budget phone get’s dual-core upgrade


Lenovo have recently updated their single-core S880i, 5-inch Android phone to a more powerful dual-core chip and more RAM to give it more of a fighting chance against the hordes of quad-core phablets headed to market.

When Lenovo originally launched the S880i, the gave the 5-inch phone a single coreMT6575 CPU and 512MB RAM, but in this day and age those specs don’t quite cut it, so Lenovo have given the low-cost phablet a slight update.

Replacing the single core chip is a dual-core MT6577 clocked at 1.2Ghz, and RAM has been boosted to meaty 1GB.

Adding the dual-core chip has not only improved performance, but Lenovo are claiming the battery life has improved to with the S880i now getting 2-3 days of standby time and around 710 minutes of talk time with both sims installed!
