Huawei working on Google Glass rival

Mobile device giant Huawei have announced that they too are working on camera equipped eyewear which could rival Google’s own project Glass.

Fielding questions at the Mobile World Congress, Huawei CEO Richard Yu went on the record to say that his company are working on a wearable augmented device which could be ready within the next 5-10 years.

No other details were offered but Yu did tease that Huawei are researching the technology as we speak and wished:

“We could show you what we are working on”

Google Glass are expected to go on sale later this year with a lofty price tag of around $1500! A more affordable option from the likes of Huawei would be a much needed addition to the market.

There are already cheaper similar devices being made. One being the Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses, which will be affordable. It will most likely release this year at a price range of $100-$300. Microsoft are working on glasses as well.
