$321.99!! I could buy a bloody Xiaomi for that! God that’s expensive! Even if they asked for $270 or $280 I would’ve bought it..

    • May 15, 2013

Yep it is a bit much, but they are also selling them a week before everyone else is. Hopefully we’ll some better prices in the not so distant future.

Umi India – STOP YOUR GIMMICKS!
Everybody who made full payments till date has already given you his choice of colours of the mobile, complete address, and has complete history of their payments, as the payment has been through banking transaction only. Free delivery was already promised.
What you need to confirm now by calling or sms or e-mail to customers????
On 9th May 2013, you dishonestly and fraudulently promised to start delivery of UMI X2 between 15th – 18th May 2013 giving “firm dates of delivery” thereby falsely inducing the innocent customers who had already paid you the booking / token amount of ₹ 500/- to further make the remaining payment of ₹ 13,500/-. To falsely induce, fool and compel such customers to make the remaining payment of ₹ 13,500/- immediately, you came up with new gimmicks on 10th May 2013 that UMI X2 is sold out. To further the anxiety of such innocent customers so that they immediately pay you the remaining ₹ 13,500/-, you came up with another new gimmick on 11th May 2013 by declaring the price increase of 2,500/- with shipping of UMI X2 2gb ram 32gb ROM.
If you fail to deliver UMI X2 2gb ram 32gb ROM to DHL between 15th – 18th May 2013 for delivery to the customers who have by now made the full payments of ₹ 14,000/- to you, it will amount to “Cheating and Criminal Breach of Trust” under the Indian Penal Code.
HENCE, STOP YOUR GIMMICKS – WAKE UP – YOU HAVE ONLY THREE DAYS TO DELIVER THE PRODUCT TO DHL FOR DELIVERY TO CUSTOMERS.
If your customers do not receive the sms or e-mail of having delivered UMI X2 2gb ram 32gb ROM to DHL they will be forced to initiate criminal action against Umi India Directors, officers and employees for cheating and embezzlement of payments made by customers and seizure of your bank accounts, closure of your website and Facebook accounts before ECONOMIC OFFENCE WING OF POLICE

Aaah… This is not the right forum Riasen… And if you have a problem with UMI then go sue them who stopped you?
Why do you have to publish it everywhere?

You paid blogger – shut your mouth!
Suing UMI India is definitely on cards. Wait for 19th May 2013.
I will make sure not only to complain myself against UMI India before EOW of Police if the promise is not acted upon by UMI India but also help others by posting “Ready Made Performa for filing / sending complaints to EOW of Police” by others who are not conversant with drafting of such complaints.

Since 15th May I have not seen any of your posts in UMI India Facebook! Why you are so afraid to raise your voice in praise of UMI India now since 15th May.

I really like the look of the iocean and the jiayu but Umi is the first to release a 2gb ram 5″ phone so they’ll get my money. FU iocean release your goddamn phone stop fucking around with the youth version.

    • Simon
      May 15, 2013

Iocean looks really good, even if they “only” have an 8 megapixel back camera, hopefully they will send Andi one and he can put it through its pace aswell.

Antelife might be reducing their prices to compete. I’ll update this article if they do.

      • May 15, 2013

So from what i undrstand the 2gb version also gets released?

        May 15, 2013

Someone told me Antelife is the arm of another company, but I’ve forgotten the name. They seem to have many online reviews of smartphones. However I sent them an email query and they never reponded. Bit this is more for discussion in the forums.

        • May 15, 2013

They are quite a large company and work with many of the manufacturers here to sell their phones. Never had to use them myself, but looking at their site the prices are a bit steep on some handsets.

      • May 16, 2013

on antelife prices have decreased now:
umi x2 2Go is about 299.99$ and umi x2 1Go at 229.99$. Antelife says that they have 1000 pieces of each version.

    • May 15, 2013

When is their launch? Perhaps they have stock?

      • May 15, 2013

they have delayed x2 from march mid, for some silly reasons like ram problem with mediatek compatibility, custom duty in india etc etc. till how much a customer wait. they have just sended a message on phone saying that “ur set will be delivered to u 5 to 7 days”.

      • May 15, 2013

Like I said only fake promises. 15th May was the date. I guess no news from them.!

The fraudulent business practices of UMI India is writ large, as they are afraid to disclose their Corporate Office/ Registered Office in India and the details of various directors and officers. Can a legal entity without disclosure of their office and contact addresses do business??? And if it is being done, does not it show the impropriety of their business practices???

    • May 15, 2013

I think you will find that no one is going to get non-turbo stock, there is even talk of only 2 Chinese online resellers being allowed to sell the 2GB model.

  12. MrPsanter
    May 15, 2013

It’s a pity so many chinese companies (shops and manufacturers) behave like their customers are idiots. If they were treating them properly like the big guns (Samsung, Apple and so on), they would already conquer the whole market, no question about that.

The problem is that they are unable (unwilling?) to properly communicate with their potential customers which is a complete lack of respect.

It’s not enough to create some hype six months ahead of for an almost finished product and behave as if the product launch actually occur in the next two weeks instead. After that, you delay the product launch every two or three weeks for some lame reasons.

Maybe this way to make business is working well in China (who the hell care of ‘fanbase’ in Europe or US anyway?) but I’m not sure that the rest of the world is ready for that kind of behavior.

Chinese companies definetely need some adjusting in order to make it in the top tier.

Hi Andi: Do u know if any customer (chinese/indian or any one else) got the UMI X2 mob in hands?

    • May 17, 2013

I think it’s too soon. The presale ends tomorrow, so I imagine they will start shipping next week for China.

        May 20, 2013

It is further delayed, Change in Camera, Sensor module, MT6589T, (earlier batch recalled by Mediatek) etc etc….All the Best, all previous review and video is now meaningless

        • May 20, 2013

It looks like they have shipped the MT6589 version of the phone (the same as I am reviewing) to international resellers, and are now having issues with the MT6589T. I read that they were changing the camera to a Sunny version, but now I’m hearing they aren’t….. It’s ridiculous!

          • ChinaWizKid
            May 20, 2013

yes, certainly, with old chipset, they should recall their production, else this company is not going to survive and will find a law suit, too. Their Production Engineers, Designers all are amateur , no marketing skills, no integrity, no loyalty towards those who paid them. Everything is questionable.
