Xiaomi’s Lei Jun Confirms 5th September event

Last evening Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun jumped the gun a little and announced that Xiaomi will be holding its annual event on 5th September.

We were quite surprised to see that the CEO of Xiaomi had decided to announce the event earlier than anticipated, but the message came from his personal Weibo account and included details and the above image.

Gizchina News of the week

One major change to the annual event is the venue. Previous Xiaomi launches were held in Beijing’s 798 arts district, but this year it will be held at the much larger National Conference Center.

On to that above image. Well there are two ‘heavenly swords’ shown which would suggest 2 new products. One of which is surely the Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone while the other could be the Xiaomi TV although Xiaomi’s operations manager Zhongyu Fei says that the announcement will be a ‘big surprise’ one which few could have guessed! Could this mean the Xiaomi tablet or even the Xiaomi laptop could make an arrival? Only time will tell!
