Update Exclusive: Xiaomi Mi3 Tegra 4 Unboxing and Hands on video

I’m not 100% sure how GizChina.es have managed it, but they have got their hands on the still unreleased Xiaomi Mi3 Tegra 4 version!

A full review is in the works, but the team have put together a hands on video and a few words about first impressions.

Xiaomi Mi3 First Impressions

Just as we discovered last at the Xiaomi launch event in Beijing, GizChina.es write that they are impressed with the quality, finish and feel of the Mi3.

Gizchina News of the week

The photos above from Antutu show us the tech specs of the phone. MIUI is based on Android 4.2.1, the rear camera is 13.1 mega-pixels, 2GB RAM, Nvidia processor, and a full HD 1920 x 1080 display.

This is a preproduction sample of the Mi3 so I am not sure it is running as smoothly as the production versions will, but benchmarks are still very very impressive. The full review will show all the scores but as you can see here Antutu is impressive at 28,794!

You can also probably just make out that the phone doesn’t have a SIM inside, this is because this version of the phone is a TD-SCDMA version and 3G won’t work in Spain, however they are going to test if GSM works for us.

Full review coming in the next few days.

SD Card ? I’ve seen some info that this phone has no SD Card expansion slot…

Oh no, what the hell….. Lei Jun said that in the labs MI-3 scored 37,5k. So in hands Xiaomi would score 36k at least with no doubt. But now 29k, wtf is going on. This is supposed to be the fastest smartphone in the world.

    • September 29, 2013

They must have just over clocked it or hard coded some ram functions or forced CPU at 100 percent at lab. 37.5 k is hard to believe even for t4 or 800 series as even ptech device reviewed here only hit just below 30k 🙂

      • September 29, 2013

Probably do have to wait for release sample to confirm as they claimed to be using t versions of 800 and may be of t4i as well.

        • September 29, 2013

But it HAD to score 36k. I planned to buy MI-3 and overclock it to 1,9 ghz to score even more than 36k. But now I just don’t understand. My only hope now is that this MI-3 is juts a prototype sent straight from representation day (hands-on day). So the true MI-3 which will be available from 15 October will bring true power. If not … well then I’ll have to save more money for Note 3, because Tegra Zone and Tegra 4 power are the only things why this phone is better than Note 3.

        • September 29, 2013

My argument for the prototype version, would be this thing on the MI-3’s back ( watch video at 3:16). But I’m not sure …

Very dissapointed with the antutu result. As stated by tadas they quoted 37000 in xiaomi’s own tests. The s4 does 26000 without any optimisations from ROMs etc. I was expecting a hell of a lot more from this phone and was going to try and get my hands on one. Now I will reconsider and see how the miezu mx3 scores as that is out now ready to ship. Very dissapointing I thought xiaomi were different and didn’t lie about benchmark scores and have delays like other Chinese company’s.

They must be in mass production already seems the tegra version will be out in 3 to 4 weeks. Not sure how much will/has changed from this unit compared to the ones being made now. Like I said I’m dissapointed and expected more. Will wait to see more now as the meizu mx3 is back in the picture for me.

I think that the Antutu test is worse tan expected because is a prototype version of the Xiaomi Mi3. In gizchina.es got problemas with the last version of Antutu benchmark and they hace to test with a older version.

TO ANYONE WHO HAD XIAOMI MI2 OR MI2S: are there any custom ROMS that make xiaomi faster OR xiaomi itself make the best ROMS available ?

    • September 29, 2013

You can install stock Android on the Mi2 and Mi2s, the DL link is on the official MIUI China site (or at least it was)

      • September 30, 2013

stock Android is faster than MIUI (higher antutu) ?

    Have it portuguese language?

    • September 29, 2013

The official MIUI rom only has English and Chinese, but other roms such as MIUIandroid offer more languages

Maybe this is a bootleg Xiaomi, that would explain the 27k benchmark. Or maybe the Tegra 4 version really is that much weaker than the S800 one.

    • September 29, 2013

Believe me, Tegra 4 is definitely the stronger one

    September 29, 2013

What does the S800 version benchmark at? Or does anyone know yet?

    • September 29, 2013

      S800 36k, Tegra 4 36,5k

      • September 30, 2013

I just been to see a Z1 at a official Sony outlet and that could hardly hit 30K and I think it is a 800 series. So these 37K like scores probably slightly mod ROMs. The people posting 35K + scores on the 800 series (Z1 like devices) must be not on the standard ROM.

I think they should stop posting lab scores and lure us all.

Hi, about Antutu Benchmarks. Chris from http://www.tradingshenzhen.de was able to play a little bit with the Mi3 at Xiaomi Support and he made a really small video with some pictures. But the Mi3 at the Support scored nearly 33.000 points at Antutu.

    http://www.tradingshenzhen.de/smartphones/xiaomi-mi3/

here you will find some pictures and the video (isn’t the best sound quality)

Eduardo managed the same with the latest ROM update
