North Korea’s Arirang Smartphone is a rebadged Uniscope smartphone

North Korea’s first Android smartphone turns out to be nothing more than a regarded Chinese Uniscope U1201.

Japanese reporters managed to get hold of the North Korean Arirang AS1202 for a side by side comparison with the Chinese Uniscope U1201 only to find the two phone so be identical bar the branding and the user inteface.

We assume that either Uniscope, or the factory producing the U1201, is also supplying North Koreans with the low-end smartphone which has just 1GB RAM, 4.3-inch display and 1.2Ghz Snapdragon S4 processor. In China the phone sells for just 638 Yuan, North Korean prices were not disclosed.
