Xiaomi.com get renamed as Mi.com as global expansion continues

Xaiomi’s push in to Asia has brought on a global rethink of the brand and simplisation of the company website to simply Mi.com.

Xiaomi now offer their phones in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and will enter other countries this year possibly including India. As the Beijing phone maker makes steps in to these new markets they have made efforts to rename phones, the Hongmi to Redmi for example, in an effort to globalize themselves.

Gizchina News of the week

Today it was announced that the Xiaomi.com main website, where the main store and English global site are loctated, would be rebranded and renamed as simply Mi.com. The Mi (MI standing for Mobile Internet) name is believed to be more instantly recognisable with foreign market due to the familiar orange Mi logo.

We hope Xiaomi’s global march continues, and keep our fingers crossed for a European/U.S release sooner rather than later.

The Mi bunny…?? Come on Xiaomi what happened to Mitu as the official name for your mascot? Does Hugo needs to rename everything for global expansion. Hongmi is now Redmi, Xiaomi becomes Mi. Although Mi I can understand as many non Chinese speaking will make the strangest things of Xiaomi but Mi bunny 🙁
