Samsung Galaxy Note 4 ‘Three-Sided Screen’ Patent Leaks

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 was rumored the moment the Note 3 was released. Now, thanks to patents revealed by GalaxyClub.nl, we have a pretty good idea of what that is going to look like.

The patent images show off what the Galaxy Note 4 could look like. Samsung previously showed off a curved screen in a prototype (seen above), this appears to be the first commercial application of the technology.

The function of the feature appears to be giving users quicker access to various functions and applications, as well as unlocking the device, without taking up space on the main portion of the screen. There also appears to be a hardware feature where something slides out of the phone, the function of that is not clear.

Gizchina News of the week

While there is a lot of news planned for Chinese tech companies today, Samsung and companies like it, still tend to set trends in the industry. It surely won’t be long until a Chinese company “clones” the Note 4.

It will also be interesting to see how Samsung plans to prevent accidental touching of the touchscreen buttons while holding this device or storing it in your pocket. It may also be difficult to figure out a case that can properly protect the strange screen without blocking it.

But then, that is why Samsung spends millions of dollars in research and development each year.

Going to reserve judgement for when it’s released. Note 3 wasn’t that bad, hopefully Samsung can get their shit together for the Note 4 and make it as revolutionary as the first Note.
