Flipkart takes on mighty Google with 3 new smartphones in partnership with Karbonn

Rising faster than ever, Flipkart has been proactive in the past few months. Earlier today, the India based e-commerce giant announced three new ultra-affordable smartphones for the country, launched in partnership with domestic OEM Karbonn.

The three devices – Karbonn Smart A52+, Smart A12 Star and A11 Star – are priced all under the 5,000 INR or $80 mark, making their intentions clear as to who they’re going after – the Android One project. Announced only a few days back, the Android One project is a scheme developed to provide developing markets with some decent hardware and quality software. While the hardware aspect will be taken care of by local experts in Micromax, Spice and Karbonn, software will come directly from the Mountain View based tech giant.

Coming back to today’s launch, the three phones, as you’d have guessed, will be available only via Flipkart. The devices – Smart A52+, Smart A12 Star and Smart A11 Star – have been priced at 3,099 INR, 4,099 INR and 4,499 INR respectively.

With Xiaomi set to start operations in the country, Android One pegged for a launch later, and other domestic makers already filling the market up to brim, folk in India certainly can’t complain about lack of choice.

these may work as the first smart phone for people moving from functional phones category and may prove good move from flipkart as this will widen there reach to a whole new consumer base as these phones surely will have flipkart apps pre-installed. Beware amazon , flipkart rising 😉
