Meizu MX4 to be first phone to use Sony 20.7MP sensor?

meizu mx4 pro?

In the absence of leaks and teasers, Meizu MX4 speculation is rising, with the latest rumours attempting to settle some earlier reports.

First up is the rumour that Mediatek will provide their MT6596 big.LITTLE processor with LTE to the new Meizu phone. This is thought to be partly true, but the chip won’t be in the MX4 but rather the Meizu MX3S. It’s not clear is this will just be an updated version of the current MX3 or not, although this would mean Meizu could offer a rather classy phone at a low price.

Gizchina News of the week

Now for the flagship MX4. Details now suggest that Meizu will be the first company to offer a smartphone with a Sony 20.7 mega-pixel rear camera. The MX3 currently uses a Sony 8 mega-pixel sensor, and this update would be a rather large and welcome one. The front camera will also be a Sony sensor rated at 8 mega-pixel.

As for the rest of the spec we are hearing a 5.4-inch 2K display, Samsung processor, 3GB RAM, fingerprint scanner and Flyme 4.0.

Looks good to us! Can’t wait to see the phone in the flesh sometime in September.

hi andi, are there any chances of meizu coming to india, really fed up trying to buy the xiaomi MI3 on the last 3 occasions. In India the existing strategy of Xiaomi will hurt them badly

How will this strategy hurt them? All their phones are getting sold out in the blink of an eye, expect the same for the redmi note and hongmi 1s. I am in the same boat as you, 3 tries 3 times no phone but I dont think bashing xiaomi is the way to go. This is xiaomi’s strategy and their way of doing business and because of this they can keep their prices so low.

Abir, i may be wrong but most Indians don’t buy phones online and like to visit stores selling them with or without a demo. To keep just 15000 phones on sale when you have more than 100000 registrations…its just duh…I am no xiaomi basher, infact a fan, but they have to appreciate the interest and response they have got in India and provide for accordingly

How do you find MIUI or have you installed a custom launcher ?

I got it in the first lot … multiple refreshs, multiple browsers, lots of frustration, had to enter the shipping address multiple times too, anyways all wells that ends well. In fact, couple of colleague at work got their too in the last sale (delivery expected tomorrow 8th Aug). Got it for my better half … she loves MIUI. We use Nova, but she wanted to give MIUI’s launcher a try…. she seems to have learned using it. Now, wants me to root it. 🙂

              Hi Om,
Does Nova dramatically change things ?
Did you install an App Drawer prior to installation ?
              Thanks.

Sounds fabulous. I guess I’ll have to wait until this time next year to see what they have for the MX4, as I will soon buy a Xiaomi Mi3.

Have to say this looks like a much more exciting prospect than the mi4. Been a long time since i’ve been more excited about a meizu release than a xiaomi release.
