ZOOZ sent over specifications of their new ZOOZ S5.5, which the company claims “replicates” the
Xiaomi Redmi, and claims the reason for this is similar for the reasons bands cover each others work!
I’m not sure if Xiaomi will be too flattered to see that Zooz are copying their
phones out of respect, and chances are they won’t really be able to stop yet another phone makers profiting from their phones.
As for the device, the ZooZ S5.5 is a 5.5-inch phone with a near 1:1 look of the Xiaomi
Redmi Note. The phone runs slightly lower hardware than the original and has a lower resolution qHD OGS display too. The processor in the
clone is a
quad-core MT6582, there is 1GB RAM and no LTE. You do however get a micro SD card expansion bay and also
Android 4.4.2.
Zooz are already working with Pandawil, 1949deal, Tinydeal, Lightinthebox and other resellers to sell the phone internationally. Pricing wasn’t mentioned but sources say that the phone will sell for around $150 once on sale.
