Samsung’s newest octacore processor has been announced and has quickly been labeled a flagship SoC worthy of a home in the next-gen Galaxy Note 4 and possibly the next Meizu.
Samsung have developed their newest octacore Exynos processor around 4 x Cortex A15 cores running at 1.8Ghz and 4 smaller Cortex A7 cores running at 1.3Ghz. The processor is designed to switch between the cores from big to little, hence big.LITTLE, giving the best performance while not draining your battery to quickly.
Along with a claimed 25 percent power increase the new Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5430 has support for WQHD and WQXGA 2560 x 1440 resolution displays. The 5430 also features a dedicated A5 core for Audio.
Although Samsung haven’t said which phones will get the new processor, it seems likely that we will see the Galaxy Note 4 powered by it, there is also a possibility that Meizu might be using the chip in the MX4 which will launch in the coming weeks.
