CoolPad Great God F2 launched, wants to replace your Redmi Note

coolpad great god f2

China’s Coolpad have released the Great God F2, the successor to the popular Great God F1, with added LTE.

Being one of China’s largest smartphone makers, and a popular OEM device maker, gives Coolpad some great buying power that helps when making affordable phones. The Coolpad Great God F2 is the second in the ‘F’ range of phones this year and costs an incredible 999 Yuan yet has specs some flagships struggle to achieve!

The phone uses an octacore Mediatek processor, but not the new MT6595! Instead the 1.7Ghz MT6592 octacore SoC has been employed along with the MT6290 4G model giving the phone LTE access. The display has increased to 5.5 inch from 5-inch but remains a 1280 x 720 panel, there is 2GB RAM, 16GB memory, an impressive 13 mega-pixel F2.0 camera and Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.

Gizchina News of the week

Design wise we have a big of a mix and match between Meizu and Nubia designs. Coolpad have made the F2 in plenty of colour options (yellow, orange, purple, white, etc) with a halo style home button on the front.

CoolPad Great God F2

The Coolpad Great God F2 goes on sale in China on the 1st September through E-commerce giant JingDong Mall for just 999 Yuan, making the new Coolpad a very interesting alternative to the the latest Xiaomi Redmi Note phones.

If I’m not mistaken, this phone uses TD-LTE, meaning it will be incompatible with carriers outside of china and europe’s FDD-LTE standard.

For china consumers it might be a Xiaomi Note killer but for europeans, I think the FDD-LTE version of the Note will be the one to buy when it’s released (mid september was it??)

Any ideas for an India launch. UMI had a massive fan following, but was ‘murdered’ by the people managing the show here. Opp & Xiaomi are not complaining with India market. Anybody else wanna try out here?

Not a bad looking phone, might make a good budget alternative to the Note 3.

Does this have Coolreaper installed? Is so, will need a ROM to replace the OS. Also, is CoolUI bloated?
