Cyanogen-powered YU phone will launch 18th December

India’s Micromax will launch their new YU smartphone on the 18th December running Cyanogen ROM.

OnePlus will be reading today’s news with a lot of anger. The phone which Cyanogen abounded the OnePlus One for in China is set to launch on the 18th November! The YU smartphone, a sub brand of Micromax, will first launch in India and then in selected markets around the world thereafter.

Micromax’s current range of phones are Chinese made, Mediatek powered devices, with Cyanogen on board and the promise of “a monster” with “really cool specs” we are hoping to see a Qualcomm powered beast from the Indian phone maker.

The YU brand will follow the online only sales and marketing method which OnePlus, Xiaomi and others have found so popular.
