Nearly 1 million OnePlus One sold, OnePlus 2 expected in 6 months plus something new

It was only a couple of months ago when OnePlus announced 500,000 OPO until sold, now the company say almost a million have found new owners.

One Plus have announced that they have managed to shift nearly 1 million handsets of its smartphone last year. The Chinese smartphone maker says for the coming year they plan to become more professional and also work on new devices.

There is still time to sell a lot more phones too as OnePlus state that the successor to the OPO, aka the OnePlus 2 will likely be available in about 6 months. In addition to the OnePlus 2 flagship a more upmarket phone based on design rather than shear horsepower is also in the works (possibly along the lines of the Oppo R5?).

They would sell more, if it would be available to more markets.
Right now OPO can be shipped to 17 countries only, all of them are strong economical countries(except India). That means people in these countries focus more on Samsung, Apple, and other known brands.

Actually OPO has a few inherent disadvantages mainly lack of dual SIM..and a non removable battery..otherwise it could move 1 mill in India alone.

Good point Andrew. I live in Romania and we have a large community of OPO fans, but we buy from resellers or via friend from another country from the list. Big mistake from OPO.

not a big mistake , just managing expectations from a small start up company ,allbeit with a bigger brother watching on (oppo) .I’ve had mine fo 3 months and it is a corker with great community support .This was the reason for the invites ,you create a community over night and add perceived value when you do get yours.
And anyone saying they can’t buy one is just trolling .signed up and got invite after a couple of hours ,shipped in UK 2 days on my door step.

The new OnePlus slayer: The Asus Zenfone 2 phablet. 5.5″ 409 ppi display, 2 gigs of ram, LTE, starting at $200 unlocked.

And that’s the “low end” model. There’s a 4g version too.

Will the OnePlus Two be invite only, and will it be very similar to the next Oppo Find flagship ?

The Asus Zenfone 2 is the new Oneplus only $150 cheaper. No invite and made by a legit worldwide company with real support and warranties.

Important to note while attractive specs and price, it’s not shipping until March — IMHO a big mistake by ASUS. When you’re in the race-to-the-bottom you don’t want to give your competition a three months heads up of what you’re coming out with.
