Xiaomi plan to target the quad-copter market

Xiaomi already offer an amazing range of products from phones, to tablets, accessories and even clothing, but how about the quad-copter market?

Xiaomi generally enter a popular tech market and quickly gain a presence there through a combination of great design, specification and pricing.

We’ve seen the Xiaomi effect work in the smartphone market, and to some extent accessories and in the future home appliances. The drone and quad-copter market could be next.

Quad-copters are multi-rotor aircraft and usually have the ability to be controlled either with a smart device or more traditional remote. Advancements in drone design means they can now fly higher, faster and more accurately than ever even by a total novice.

Gizchina News of the week

Today it was reported that Xiaomi have put together a team and invested in creating their own drones for sale in China. Apparently the current prototype is similar to the popular DJI phantom and can carry a GoPro style camera (possibly also a Xiaomi device), and will be more accessible due to low-cost pricing.

What do you think of the idea of a Xiaomi drone? Do you think it could take off?

A drone that costs less than a second hand car would be really nice. Let’s hope Xiaomi can pull it off.

This is great! The DJI drones have been on my wish list for a while, but due to their high price I have held back. If Xiaomi can cut the price in half, I am in!
