Asus rumoured to be working on non Android wear smartwatch with 7 day battery

Rumour has it that Asus are working on a new line of wearables with incredible battery life but they won’t run Android Wear.

For the past few years we have seen various attempts at a smart wearable from those which feature a slimmed down version of Android, to the later Android Wear devices.

While we have seen some great improvements in terms of features and software, one major drawback of all smart wearables is the poor battery life. Apple are even struggling to solve battery life issues on their upcoming Apple Watch.

Gizchina News of the week

It might be left to Tawian based Asus to bring us the goods then with a new smartwatch with a claimed battery life of 7 days. Apparently the new watch will be an update to the ZenWatch, feature a Mediatek processor and running a new OS. The new OS is the key here and could be the reason for the incredible battery life.

For those of you excited about the new Asus watch but prefer to have Android Wear then don’t worry as another version running Google’s OS is also reported, just don’t expect the same 7 day battery life.
