Gionee M2 and P6 receive major OTA updates

Gionee might be concentrating on newer slim phones, but that doesn’t mean they are neglecting other models, some of which have just received major updates.

All eyes are on Gionee for their Elife S7 launch at MWC, but owners of current devices can be happy too as a new OTA update brings some major improvements.

The Gionee Marathon M2 and Pioneer P6, two phones which are popular in India, have received an recent OTA update which fixes many bugs users had complained about along with some new UI touches.

The ROM change log for both Gionee models can be seen below:

Gionee Marathon M2:

• Added a new theme: Good mood;
• Access to applications only when desired. Ability to hide the functionality of the app to hide them from others who want to access it without your will;
• Management of notifications from applications with the addition of a new feature, referred to as Information Management System;
• Added questionnaire regarding the OTA;
• Ability to create playlists cool thanks to the music player to date;
• Now you can change the system font: 3 pre-installed with the ability to download new ones;
• Reply and ignores the right calls with the new UI dialer currently receiving a phone call;
• Solved the problem of the disappearance of the icons from the home;
• Fixed problems related to notifications WhatsApp;
• Improved the quality of the photos;
• Improved display font Junk in incoming calls;
• Updated: UC Browser, GioneeXender, Game Zone, Amigo Paper and Kingsoft Office.

Gionee Pioneer P6:

• Added new fonts;
• Improved response of the touchscreen;
• Improved the quality of the photos;
• Updated music player;
• Added a new theme: Find sea;
• Added the function that allows you to hide the functions of the app;
• Added Notification Management System;
• Adding the “one key” on the lockscreen;

It seems that the phones are still running on an older Android builder though, and as of yet a Lollipop update hasn’t been announced, but at least updates are still rolling out.
