iOcean have released an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the iOcean X8 Mini Android smartphone. The iOcean X8 mini was the baby brother of the larger X8 coming with MT6582 processor and between 1 and 2GB RAM sandwiched between two sheets of glass.

We have asked iOcean for a bug fix list but so far we don’t know what the ROM brings or even if it is a stable build or not. We suggest you proceed with caution should you decide to install the ROM which can be manually downloaded from the iOcean service pages.

I thought I would never see something as that in a Mediatek Phone! If we remember MTK6582/92 born in 4.2.2, got update for 4.4.2 and now even 5.0 see the bright of day in those phones. I’m from the time of MTK6577/89 which died right on the first Rom they got. MTK still far away to be a developer/update friend, but finally we can see some improvement, or perhaps the companies are finally learning that consumers wants updates and are putting some pressure…
