Budget Ouktiel U2 announced pre-sale starts this week for $89.99

oukitel u2

Oukitel have padded out their range of smartphones to include a budget model which will cost just $89.99 in a pre-sale beginning this week.

Oukitel have so far impressed us with their Oukitel U9 and U10 smartphones, device offering good build and hardware for flagship shoppers. For those of us on more of a modest budget though, Oukitel now have the Oukitel U2 available.

The U2 follows the same outward appearance to the U9 and U10, but more importantly the budget phone shares a few of the same materials too! Front and rear glass panels are of the 2.5D curved glass variety offering a feeling like ‘Jade’, with a gold CNC alloy chassis sandwiched between. At under $100 its hard to think of another phone that offers a similar level of construction.

Gizchina News of the week

Budget hardware has been chosen to keep the design and built top notch and we see a 5-inch qHD IPS display in use, quad-core MT6735M chipset, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. Android 5.1 runs on the phone and there is space for dual SIM and the option to use a 32GB SD card.

The retail price for the Oukitel U2 will officially be $99.99, but pre-sale offers will see the cost drop to $89.99 between the 6th – 31st August.

If it just would have HD display. Other specifications are good for the price and are okay for my use.

1gb ram is not enough for Android 5. I got a mtk6752 device and the system is taking 800mb ram. The phone is nearly unusable, because it’s not even enough for browsing.

Than your system sucks or you have too many apps in the background. My system on LG L90 is using only 550-600 MB and I have enough free RAM, but I am using only Viber, Whatsapp and e-mail (that is in the background).

the 800mb are without apps (system only). In the background I only have whatsapp and email as well.

Don’t expect a Chinese phone to have a highly optimized system, similar to LG.

What is your phone? MT6752 with 1GB of Ram?If you have 2GB or even 3GB of Ram and your system is taking 800MB this is pretty normal. That’s how The Android system ram works is take memory when is available.

Mstar M1. there is no bloatware installed.

I found a new firmware and it helped. The system now takes 700-750mb of memory. At least a browser is able to run fine with some tabs open.

But two apps can’t run at the same time. As soon as I minimize the browser, it’s removed from the memory and when I reopen it it has to reload everything.

I can’t recommend any Android 5 phone with 1GB ram.

Some chinese phone have optimised system, usually if it is Stock, Vanilla, Clean, A.O.S.P. Try to root your phone and delete bloatware and sometimes do reboot and even factory reset (after a few months).

there is no bloatware and I found no way to root. I found a new firmware update and it helped. Now the web browsing works at least and I can have multiple tabs open.

I also have a Be Touch 2 and it’s a difference of day and night. The other phone was as slow as a phone with 6000 Antutu.

I didn’t compare it to an Iphone 6 you donkey. I said that it can’t even run browsers properly since the system already takes so much memory. The phone was unusable. The webbrowser would crash every time it opened some more complex websites (with ads I assume).

The mtk 6752 is useless if the phone only got 1Gb of memory.

All I am saying is that I don’t recommend an Android 5 phone with 1GB ram.

If someone goes for a budget phone he should look for an Android 4 phone instead.

Look at the top pic then look at the other pics … now tell me what do you notice? Exactly … photoshopped bezels. Why can’t these Chinese companies just be honest and show real images of their phones from day one. Seeing this makes me lose all trust in the company and I will never buy a phone from them until they stop doing it.
