Elephone P8000 and P6000 Pro will get Android 6.0 update

elephone android 6

Elephone will be rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for the Elephone P8000 and P6000 Pro, while the new P9000 range will ship with Android 6.0 out of the box.

There was a time in the past that Chinese smartphones were among the last to get the latest Android updates. Either the newest Android release would come up to 12 months late or in some cases not at all.

The past 12 months has seen a dramatic change brought around by a combination of Chinese phone companies wanting to update phones now and chip maker Mediatek being a lilttle more forthcoming with sources codes (at least to the manufacturers who use them).

Gizchina News of the week

So which Chinese phones will receive Android 6.0? Well we hope the majority of them will, but at least we know that some Elephone owners will be happy to hear they will receive Marshmallow (sometime in the future). Elephone have confirmed that the Elephone P8000 and P6000 Pro will definitely get Android 6, while other phones are under testing. New Elephone phones in the P9000 range will ship with Android 6.0 out of the box.

I bought this phone when it was first available. They promised it would have an update but never happend. The only thing is that they search developers to put lollipop on it as good as they can . they didnt make an update because its complicated and with a lot of risk…loosing emei, radio freq..and other failings! If you put lollipop by yourself its your own problem and not elephone. You are lucky because you waited so long they allready put it on for you. If i was you i didnt bought it at that time because there were some other better phones on the market. But reading your language you are young and brainless to known were we fucking talking about

Yeah I was like …. seriously ? I mean they did release these a couple of months ago, they could have just left them at Lollipop in the good Chinese tradition …

They probably need to sell off old stock to finance new production. Crazy if so as they keep bringing out mid-range phones that have to compete with 1000’s of other brands. The Vowney has good will and they are burning their hopeful customers.

The reason it is delayed is because it’s Elephone, they love to announce products with fictitious release dates.

If you call that a good rom, then ok.

First of all they promised OTA, but you have to install a full firmware. Second the UI feels slower than my old A820 with MT6589 and custom KK. Not to mention the most buggy CM12 in the world.

My brother has the first P6000 revision, don’t know what is the situation with the later ones (with updated chipset).

So I assume it will be the same with P8000 and P9000 runnin Android 6.
