What are the differences between the Ulefone Betouch, Betouch 2 and Betouch 3

ulefone be touch 3

Ulefone pulled the sheets off the Ulefone Be Touch 3 which is based on the Be Touch 2 that was based on the original Be Touch. This has caused a bit of confusion with customers wondering what the differences are so here they are.

It’s not unusual for a phone maker to rehash a current model to extend its shelf life. In the past the refresh might have consisted of a little extra RAM, but now we see the same phone rereleased with a new chipset and other features.

Ulefone launched the first BeTouch phone at the start of this year. The phone’s design and build has remained unchanged through the BeTouch, BeTouch 2 and the new BeTouch 3, meaning each phone is based on a 5.5-inch display, a metal chassis, removable rear panel, and a front fingerprint under a physical button. The design is similar to the iPhone 6S Plus, but not so much that it looks like an out and out clone.

Gizchina News of the week

With the release of the Ulefone BeTouch 3, potential Ulefone owners are wondering what the difference between this new version and the older models, also BeTouch and BeTouch 2 owners are wondering if the new phone is worth the update. To make things easier take a look at the specification comparison table below.

Ulefone Betouch vs Ulefone Betouch 2 vs Ulefone Betouch 3

[table id=214 /]

So what are the differences?

As you can see from the table the BeTouch 3 benefits from the update to FHD display (as did the BeTouch 2) but the processor has been switched out for a Mediatek MT6753 chipset, which should be better for battery life. Then again the battery size has been drastically reduced.

The BeTouch 3 is an odd ‘update’ and unless there is a significant price cut it will be a hard sell for anyone who already has the BeTouch 2. What do you make of the changes in the Betouch range over the past year? Is it time for Ulefone to release a new flagship?

Not at all a worthy upgrade. If I had the BeTouch 2, I wont even dream of buying this.

Yeah, Not much of an upgrade, more like a downgrade. They should of used Helio X10 MT6795T and kept the battery at 3050mAh.

Yup the X10 plus a nicer camera combo like 16/8 real no interpolation stuff. That would have been a great upgrade …

No attempt used the 6795 chip phone, so I do not understand the differences between them, it is looking for a video to see the gap between them is not worth it to spend more money to buy a mobile phone MT6795, for never most people, MT6753 is not completely sufficient.

  3. November 17, 2015

The battery capacity and the version of android was a lie in be touch 2 anyway.

This phone basically explains Ulefone attempts with the Be Touch, they tease a lot a phone and its amazing features, to make people interested on it. In truth the phone carries a lot of problems, then they launch and earn money with the launch, then after the reviews the sales start to decrease… So perfect time to launch a sequel!
ln the Be Touch 4 I guess we’re going to see:
    MT6753 1.5Ghz version
    and a 3050mAh battery lol 😛

ulefone Now select the MT6753 is the right approach, because there are more MT6753 optimize resources, because many phones using this chip, ulefone should be considered to optimize the system.

      Recycled unsold Be Touch 2.

Agree their latest range doesn’t look to good at all, but the Z5 (discontinued?) should be very good. Z6 model currently listed is sounds nowhere near as good.

Cool, the E8. I was looking at the Blu version – Blu Pure XL – as it’s only(!) $350 via Amazon US and Blu have just started to sell a few models in UK also via Amazon UK. But despite the specs the camera had mixed early word. Haven’t checked on it since release though, but have a feeling the E7 will still better it in that respect.

lol … did they use Alien Tech in the E7 😀 ?

$350 translates to 36905.75 Pakistani Rupee , thats 37k … but i bet the phone will be priced upwards of atleast 40k … maybe even 50 k !

Afraid not, Mitsubishi & Subaru only (I don’t like repair bills). It’s a great lens, don’t know why they abandoned it.

              November 19, 2015

mitsubishi is good 😀 ( we have a alot of lancers here and maybe a few classic gallants of the 90s and 80s )
subaru … i havent seen that one around

i presume lens is DIFFERENT from the sensor (like imx 214 ,220, 230) ??

            • Steve B
              November 19, 2015

Mitsubishi Grandis MPV, Subaru Forester & Legacy; Subaru’s are nearly all 4×4’s, even saloons/hatchback. Ultra reliable and tough, shitty fuel economy.

Lens often comes as a basic unit with sensor, but they can be spec’d up (6P, blue glass, OIS, etc) or go custom if they really want. Lens on the Iuni U2 and Gionee E7 is the Largan M8, a sapphire lens designed specifically for use with the OV sensor in the Gionee E7, not off the shelf, so (for the time) it was top notch. Later Iuni U2 version slightly better as it had extra external blue coating which increases contrast, but being outside the sapphire glass, it scratches really easily, though not to detriment of images.

            • Muhammad Yasir
              November 19, 2015

how does a lens scratch off by itself ?

Largan m8 , eh ? sounds like a name for a tank :p … in all honesty tho , if they could somehow recreate such hardware for newer gen phones … we’d all be in dreamland (like literally , through our phone cams 😛 )

            • Steve B
              November 19, 2015

No idea how it scratches so easy; only have it in my coat pocket and use a protective case, but coating now looks like spider web. If I got another I’d stick a screen protector on the lens. Doesn’t effect performance, but annoys the hell out of me. My daughter’s E7 which she chucks around hasn’t got a mark on it, so it’s definitely the blue coating at fault.

Only reason they didn’t carry on I have to presume is the probable high cost of the lens/sensor combi. And possibly the easy allure of the ‘Sony’ brand. Real shame.

Bought few weeks ago Be Touch 2 for GF. The facts:
    – I like very much the physical build, but…
    – Weak battery, most probably not 3050 mAh
    – The USB cable fits too loose and after a week of use it doesn’t charge
    – About ten dead pixels
    – WiFi problems
    – Camera problems in low-light environment
    – No LED back-light for the hardware buttons
    – Fake Lollipop 5.1 (real one is 5.0)

    • G'n'T
      November 18, 2015

      I have had my Be Touch 2 for about 6 months now and really like it. It has been my first Chinese phone purchased and so far serving me well. However I do have these issues also;

      – I agree about the battery. I don’t think its 3050 mAh. Will have to get around some day and run an independant test on it.
      – True this is only Lollipop 5.0 and not 5.1. 5.0 has a big problem of USB tethering which is one BIG negative for me with the phone. Not sure if this was ever fixed in 5.0 but still a problem for me.
      – No LED backlight for phone buttons (although it was never advertised as such so I was expecting this already).
      – Started seeing ‘weak spots’ in the display. I only notice this though when the display is all one colour.
      – I have noticed the metal border/frame is starting to move on the side of the phone too.

I have Be Touch 2 but i think Be Touch 3 may be better. With past experience, they may not cheat on the Android 5.1 stuff, because they already say the battery is 2550mAh instead of insisting on 3050. And with Paris they even undermarked the battery capacity by 50mAh. So i think they have learned a lesson. And i can see now they keep releasing updates for Paris. So i guess people can lay more hope on it. With different chipset, it will another phone essentially. No competitors of Ulefone has achieved to make a responsive phone out of MTK6752, but they do with MTK6753. So MTK6753 may seem weaker in face value, but better in experience.

I just know Be Touch 3 is cheaper than Be Touch 2. MTK6752 or MTK6753? fxxx it. It’s just a trick MTK always play. Anyone found MTK6752 phones are practically better than MTK6753?
