Bluboo working on Bluboo Picasso with sapphire glass display

Bluboo have posted a simple teaser on their Facebook which we have confirmed to be a new phone with sapphire glass display.

Sapphire glass is a toughened glass material which is perfect for use on smartphone displays. We have already seen some flagship phones launch with Sapphire glass, and some Chinese phone makers have used the material to protect camera and fingerprint sensors, though it still seems to be too expensive for Chinese phone makers to use as the main display material, or at least it was.

Bluboo posted a simple teaser today on the Bluboo Facebook which got us asking a few questions, what we found out is the company is currently testing a new device code named the Bluboo Picasso and that it will feature a full Sapphire glass display.

We even managed to get whole of a sketch of the new Bluboo phone showing a rounded rear, dual LED flash and possible metal frame. There is no sign of a rear fingerprint scanner so either it has one on the front or not at all.

Specifications, pricing and a release date are unconfirmed, and at this time we don’t know if it will be a flagship or mid range phone. More details when we get them.

I can’t imagine it being anything other than a flagship device if it does indeed have a sapphire glass display. I recently saw an Letv max with a sapphire glass screen for sale at a whopping $1200! It seems that it is still very expensive.

Kind of like Doogee claiming to have an X20 phone for $169. These cheaper companies are all about grabbing headlines these days. Really kind of sad that they spend more time doing this and less time focusing on making good phones.
