Watch a black Xiaomi Mi 5 being unboxed

xiaomi mi5 hands on

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is quite the rage now, and we’re striving to bring you as many details about the phone as possible.

The Mi 5 was launched a couple of days back, i.e., on the 24th of February in China. The phone also had an unveil a little while later at MWC 2016 in Barcelona, where we managed to spend some time with it.

Something that phone enthusiasts somehow seem to enjoy each time are unboxing videos. The fun part here is that the audience is clearly divided into two distinct sets — one which will watch every unboxing video available on the internet, and the other, which doesn’t know why people make such videos.

That said, we all know where we belong. So here’s a video of a Black Xiaomi Mi 5 being unboxed!

Gizchina News of the week

The video comes courtesy of someone in China (iVankr? Umm, okay), and is reuploaded by the folks at Geekbuying who have the phone listed in its Mi 5 Pro variant as well as the 32GB and 64GB versions.

To remind you of its specifications, the Mi 5 comes with a 5.15-inch 1920 x 1080p display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3/4GB RAM, 32/64/128GB ROM, 16 mega-pixel rear camera, IR blaster, and more. You can find the full spec sheet here.

he was saying how he and is wife are now divorced, but he found a renewal of his mind and general personality through the hobby of collecting smartphones, he said this is his favourite smartphone so far, and he gave a shout out to all the people on gizchina, and finally he wishes one day he will become the CEO of his own smartphone company

its a shame though, once we reach the level of having chips in our skin, smartphones will not exist anymore

This is a much better place to learn about Chinese phones than AA. Several of us do go on AA though.

Yeah, I’m here most of the times.
Chinese phones is my world, I don’t care much of regular OEMs.

Mi disappointed. First lunched mi5 in a fhd panel. Then there are 2versions and then there is mi4s. There is no mention of hires audio.

FHD is the perfect choice for this display size. 2k would have been a waste of resources with no real benefit.

Agreed. But we see galaxy s6 performed beautifully with. 2k. But the fact that it missed hi res audio ia real disappointment

S6 had terrible battery life because of that 2k display.

Both s6 and s7 have a beautiful screen because the screen itself is of great quality, it’s not related with the resolution! Plus, they’re amoled screen nicely balanced (not the iper-saturated colours we were used to in the past from this kind of screens). Resolution has nothing to do with all of that, it’s just a marketing move with a lot of cons and none pro (maybe vr is the only way it could be useful, but vr won’t be a useful technology for years, if ever).

Now, I have a gionee e7, and the screen is totally good, nothing to rant about it. But everytime I see my bro’s lg g2, I think “damn, THAT’S a screen worth looking at, I could stare at the homepage for hours!”. And they’re both fhd screen on similar dimensions (5.5″ vs 5.2″), that little extra amount of ppi does nothing: it’s just that g2 has a stunning, great quality panel!

I love it in black and I love unboxing videos. But I am still leaning towards Gionee or the next Meizu MX.

You don’t know anything about the next MX yet !!!
Now, that’s what i call customer satisfaction

        I have a general idea:

        Helio X20
        3/4 GB RAM
        Sony IMX 230
        Full Metal Build

There’s only 3 phones that have left me this impressed: Xiaomi Mi3, THL Monkey King and now Meizu MX5.

may i ask what impressed you so much about the mx5? i actually really liked my mx4 but i think it was hold back by the 2gigs of ram..like apps refreshed like crazy and yes..i obv. set everything like that they dont get killed while in standby

i actually liked flyme a lot even tho they ruined it a bit with flyme 5 because i loved the “task manager” that it was jsut swiping up and a little icon list so i didnt have another screen between switching apps.

and the display was fine when i just had the mx4..but now when i just lay the mi4 next to it the mx4 screen looks a bit dull like really kinda ..not that punchy

For me I was impressed by the following:

            1. Camera – out of the box it is not the best camera (very good but not great) and it isn’t for novice users. It requires really getting the settings just right. But if you do the shots can be amazing.

            2. Build Quality – I don’t use phone cases, I think they ruin the beauty of the device. The MX5’s aluminum is very slippery so I have dropped it a few times. Also my nephew used it as a Frisbee one day (throwing it across the room), it doesn’t have a scratch on it. Another day it fell out of my pocket and into a puddle, it was submerged for about 4 seconds. No signs of water damage.

            3. Display – I was never a huge fan of AMOLED displays before this. This display is changing my mind.

            4. Flyme – Coming from MIUI, I wasn’t sure what to expect from Flyme. I love the swipe to go back feature, I love how smooth and fast and I love the built in security center.

            5. Quick Charge – one of the best quick charge phones I have used. 0-100% in just under 55 minutes.

            6. Updates – I heard horrible things about Meizu and updates before this (mostly with the M/Note models). Since July when I got the phone I have received about 12 updates and each one you could actually notice the changes.

I won the MX5 on a contest here. Before this I had no feelings either way for Meizu, I didn’t like them or hate them they were just another company that wasn’t Xiaomi. So I went into this experience with a level head and didn’t have any of my own money invested. Meizu has won me over as a customer. Since then I also purchased the Meizu HD50 headphones which are very good for the money.

thats what i like about most of these companies..if there is a bug or anything they fix it with the next version i also had the like experimental rom on it i believeits the A one..and like on miui you get weekly or every 2 weeks an update with improvements

what i also like about the new meizu’s is the one button does all like only touch it to go back or press it for the homescreen and such stuff ~

do you have maybe some example pictures from the mx5’s camera?

and thanks for telling me about that stuff like every year for me it will be mostly be a race for xiaomi letv and xiaomi which phone i’ll buy..^_^
