Vernee Thor gets a second software update

Vernee Thor

So far Vernee is one of the companies keeping their word about the proper after-sale service and they are working hard to deliver the software updates swiftly. That’s something every smartphone owner likes and on top of that they seem to be wearing the “customer-friendly” face providing the kernel source code for the Vernee Thor model.

But custom alternatives ROMs are still  a future thing, now let’s turn our heads to the second software update for the Thor, which has been released via OTA just few days ago. Ironically one of the most important fixes is the one resolving the update issue for the the first one, when for the proper updating process you were forced to remove the microSD card physically from the phone.

Gizchina News of the week

The list of the improvement is of course way longer and includes major things like reducing the startup time, fix for the front camera crash issues, improving fingerprint recognition rate, proper flip case wake-up, optimized touch responses, ringtone notifications and so on. So don’t hesitate and if you are already one of the lucky Vernee Thor owners just update it.

The second update fixed some of the issues I had with it, good to see them trying at least. Hopefully this keeps up the next 6 months to Year and the hardware holds up. I still would be cautious buying the more expensive models.

A custom ROM would fix a lot of the issues but we are months away from seeing any, and that’s assuming the modding community actually buys and supports the device.

I came right away to read your say about this. This company is in the spotlight due to the delicious claims on the full featured Vernee Apollo so I want to get as much info from people that actually have a product from them.

I don’t want to be too hard on them because this is their first attempt at a phone and it is a lot better than some other first attempts I used. But I also want people to be aware that if they buy the Apollo they are essentially buying a $200+ Beta Test. There is going to be a lot of bumps and bruises along the way.

Overall I would recommend the Thor but I would warn people don’t be surprised if something doesn’t work right. And for novice users I would still recommend other $120 phones over it like the Xiaomi Redmi 3.

Then the question would be: how much of a Software issue and not so much hardware issue is the VERNEE situation???
I mean because if they can solve issues over OTAs then it’s not so bad … but if the hardware came flawed from the factory then that’s a different story.

New info for you. Vernee lied about Thor front camera and refuses to comment about it. They installed 2 mpx old module and interpolated image to 5mpx. Also there is no Gorilla Glass 3 glass, most of the people have a lot of scratches on the screen already. So i do not recommend you to buy any product before official release and full reviews. I’ve ordered Thor and gifted it to my nephew as it is an awful product as a daily phone

even people are more than satisfied with a product, they still would come out and complain any flaws this product has. by the way, Corning Glass 3 can’t never be scratched? if you enter Xiaomi forum, you will also find lots people complain about this on xiaomi 4, personally i am not so cared if i could get so pleased by the features from a $120 phone, it would make me is like that i have no any other things to take care of , seriously.
