I looked at it and it’s $149 shipping from the European warehouse.
For this reason the GizChina one should be a better deal for European customers.
The one at gearbest costs $159 if ships from European warehouse.

When it comes to shipping… you are right.
I was looking for a phone for my mom bday 3 days ago.
I wanted one shipping from European warehouse because she lives in Italy and I didn’t want her to pay customs fees.

My first choice was GizChina, I was buying the LETV le 1S and at the check-out I picked European direct shipping.
      They charge 35 freaking euros!!!

I ended up buying it from Gearbest

Yea the shipping is ridiculous from the GizChina shop. To ship DSL to the US they charge $19. I have bought dozens of phones from China I have never paid more than $15 for DSL and even that was on rare occasions, usually its right around $10.

Them shipping costs: Yeah, I noticed a few times myself in the past when looking around on GizChina Shop’s EU Direct section. But it’s not really that surprising if you think about it. I mean, at the end of the day, them import duties gotta be paid one way or the other.

Like I said, I bought the phone from another store for almost the same money and the shipping was free.

If I have to pay the import duties the way or another like you said then I would order from China for much less and give it a chance the phone gets custom clearance without fees.
They always ship items declaring a lower value.

            July 23, 2016

Of course. My point was that if you buy from an EU warehouse, the phone had to have been imported first. So that’s why you end up paying relatively higher shipping costs.

              It shouldn’t be.

There are several professional resellers that have a European base from which they can ship within Europe without any bond.

Whenever you buy from these resellers they have one price when buy from China and another one, usually higher, when you buy from their European warehouse.

The difference in price covers what they paid to ship from their Chinese base to the European one.

Now, when you pick their European warehouse, you pay a surplus to make sure you don’t pay custom fees that you would have probably paid if picked the Chinese warehouse.

At this point it’s all about shipping, and there’s no question, that shipping from Europe to Europe, air or ground, is always going to be cheaper than shipping from China to Europe.

Charging me $35 for the shipping with a European post service, when I usually pay $18 for a 3 day shipping with DHL from China to USA I say that there’s something wrong with it.

Average shipping cost within Europe is about 7-10€ for a phone package.

They are obviously collecting custom fees money that shouldn’t.

If I have to pay custom fees then I’d like to do roll the dice and chance it while buying from China.
And if it ends up for me paying more due to custom fees, then at least in giving money to the customs and not to a third party.

Yes, I understand, and I agree. The issue is, they call it “shipping cost”, but it’s more than just shipping cost: They even mention it themselves: ‘Customs duty included, No more extra taxes’. So yeah, they could have divided into two separate posts to make it more clear to the customer, I give you that. But at the end of the day, it’s the grand total that matters. And if you look at it like that, then it’s logical that the total price is higher when ordering from EU warehouse.

Yes, if you’re lucky you pay no or less import duties if you order straight from China, but not always. Ordering from EU Warehouse at least you’re certain how much you gonna end up paying in total. It’s sorta a peace of mind thing. And you pay for that πŸ™‚

There are some China companies that, when ordering from China, for an extra 10% or so (I think they call it ‘insurance’), they will reimburse your import duties for ya if you do get charged (You send them the bill etc., and they pay you back the amount that you had to pay to customs). It’s basically the same ‘peace of mind’ thing I mentioned above (but in a different form).

Some people prefer the “peace of mind”, and others (like you – and usually me too btw) prefer to “roll the dice” as you put it πŸ™‚

In order to have a microscopic chance at winning you have to buy the product first? Nice scam in an attempt to sell more phones.

This site needs to do Gleam giveaways like every other site these days. It’s a lot less shady than “contests” like this one.
