Homtom working on a new rugged device named HT20

Homtom are certainly a pack of hard workers and following some standard phone models they are planning to delve into the rugged cathegory too with their newest model HT20.

To properly define the Homtom HT20 we have to say it looks like a crossover between a rugged and a bussines phone. Design-wise it’s more towards the bussiness style, but with the rugged benefits and resistances. The phone will have the high IP68 certification meaning significant resistant against water, dust and humidity.

Homtom HT20 construction is unique, because the engineers omitted the usual massive rubber materials for the rugged phone design. It’s constructed with a help of a vacuum technology, which makes the device in fact hermetically sealed, but also makes the body compact and sturdy while boosting the dust and water resistances. With the help of such technologies the main 13 Mpix camera is allegedly capable of shooting very solid underwater shots.

Aside that the new Homtom HT20 is also fall resistant device with the materials meeting the military standards. The metal alloy has pretty high density and falls into the cathegory of materials used in the aviation. Thanks to that the Homtom HT20 should survive a fall from 1,2m without a scratch. The front panel is protected by Gorilla Glass and all the connectors are made dustproof with even some sort of a filter grille.

Homtom HT20 is shaping up to be a pretty interesting device not just with the features but also the design. But until we have more information about the used hardware and projected pricing it’s hard to make any real predictions. So stay tuned for more information coming soon.

How about upping that 1gb RAM? Might be a more interesting device to consider.
