Teclast Tbook 16S takes another shy at the Microsoft Surface

We’ve seen hordes of Chinese tablets attempt to recreate the magic of the Microsoft Surface. Today we’ll take a look at another, the Teclast Tbook 16S.

While the spec sheet of this tablet is rather uninspiring, the design is probably the reason behind its existence. At a little over $250, the Tbook 16S isn’t dirt cheap, either. Anyway, let’s take a quick look at the specifications.

Gizchina News of the week

The tablet comes with the Intel Z8300 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, with a 11.6-inch full HD display upfront. Besides that, the Teclast Tbook 16S has dual cameras (2 mega-pixel front, 5 mega-pixel rear) and a micro SD card slot for expansion of storage. It runs Windows 10 as well as Android 5.1 (one at a time 😉 ).

Teclast probably plan to make a 4G-ready version of this device, as indicated by a dormant SIM slot. That would be interesting, and probably the standard in the coming months.

For now the device is on pre-sale, with shipping scheduled to commence mid-September. Sadly though, the keyboard and the stylus are add-on accessories that need to be purchased separately.

Tablet with Intel Z8300 inside will not take down any surface tablet. it is just too low spec.

Probably only price that they can win against the real surface.

It can compete with the base model Surface 3 that uses an Atom processor. The Atom used in that surface is more powerful but not for the $300 premium you will pay for the Microsoft brand name.

Ah i don’t know there are the base version. Thank you for the clarification.

I never want to pay premium price for anything. I got no intention to make those big companies CEOs getting fatter and fatter with their big salaries and bonuses. Because all this time is always the same lame stories, they sell either shitty items with high prices or high end items even with more outrageous pricing LOL.

Just to shown on the casing their glorious brand name like microsoft, Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc then i need to pay so high price ?? not working anymore for me.

I do believe outside there are other generic brands that have the same quality with much cheaper prices. Slightly lower quality i can bare if the price different like half or even lesser LOL.

…well if you call almost twice as powerful in multicore, just “more powerful”…OK

Also at $500 Surface 3 badly needs a refresh, it’s too old on the tooth and for just a few hundreds more you get a surface pro. Also at the same price (~$500) you get a real notebook with far better keyboard, battery, specs, not even in the same caliber really (mibook air).

So we are in agreement, Surface 3 at this point is as bad of a deal as those cheap Chinese clones.

Surface 3 is a bad deal because you can get a Chinese tablet with the same specs for hundreds less. Those cheap Chinese clones are a great deal for what you pay.

They’re both bad deals. Paying $200+ for atom products is thrown money. At least Surface 3 has the high end atom which still performs only slightly better than a 3 year old Qualcomm SoC. BTW there is a reason why Intel discontinues the series , even with Intel rebates people would still not prefer those products , you’d probably be one of their few happy customers.

BTW being a discontinued line makes things twice as worse as people should not expect much future support…

For you it’s a bad deal, for millions of people it’s not. You really struggle to understand that your opinions aren’t those of everyone.

Actually for the majority it’s not. The atom lie went bye, bye. I think you are the one struggling to understand what that means (the volume of sales was so low that Intel could not turn a profit after the heavy rebates she would give for atom SoCs)

Once again you use your opinion and state it as a fact. You really do struggle to separate the two. In your mind, because you think one thing and you have certain needs, everyone has to think like that or they are wrong. It’s quite comical to read some of your posts.

Intel actually hasn’t killed off Atom entirely, they cancelled the smartphone and tablet SoC’s but they will still be making Atom’s for low cost PC’s. Tablets will shift to using Core M SoC’s, some already have.

So in your mind they did this because all was fine on Intel-vile?

There is no more hard data other than a cancellation of a line, if you find this an … opinion … OK.

They did it because technology is always improving. The same reason Qualcomm and Mediatek have a new SoC every year.

Is there a way to hide out articles that have the word “Z8300” inside?
    I’d really like that…
This isn’t news, this is spam, and lately there’s been almost nothing else but this. 🙁

    • August 29, 2016

To think of it, you could probably do an IFTTT recipe for that.

That or they could just stop listing them. I told Techtablets to stop reviewing Z8300 junk.

Agree. These junk tablets are hardly worth it at all.
It’s a pity there are so few *real* tablets.
