Writing on the wall: Mi 5S with SD821 spotted on AnTuTu

We had little doubt about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5S featuring a Snapdragon 821 SoC, but this new leak, courtesy AnTuTu, does the last bit to ensure there’s no confusion.

The screenshot that recently showed up talks a bit about the internals on the Mi 5S. This of course, includes the Snapdragon 821 chipset, a 1080p display, Android 6.0.1 installation and an Adreno 530 GPU.

Besides this, a recent leak suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5S would come with up to 6GB of RAM, 256GB of on-board storage, the same 5.15-inch display as the Mi 5, a 16 mega-pixel camera and a 3490mAh battery, standing for an incremental update from this year’s Mi 5.

Between the Xiaomi Mi 5S and LeEco’s upcoming SD821 phone, which one do you think has a better chance at the market?

Mi5 is too small for my taste and too fragile for to be a decent smartphone, but despite the increasing phablet demand near 5 inchers is still prime size.

Le Max 2 has too small battery for that screen size and resolution.

Mi5s is still too small for me and without sacrificing thickness or battery size I guess it still gonna be weak. Glass back always is fragile anyway.

If the leaks are true next LeEco flagship doubles the battery size. Although it wasn’t bothers me lack of audio jack might be a problem for it.

On the display part Xiaomi did better job with chosing brighter screen over pixel density IMO.

Both needs to step up their game on the camera side.

how bad is the camera on mi5 and how bad is the camera on Le Max 2 ?

and what are you aiming for in a SMARTPHONE camera ??

It is not bad. It is better then SGS7EDGE in daylight, yes yes it is better, no oil paint pattern, just pure sharpness.. but at low light.. it is ok but xiaomi need to step up with their image processing and the lens is only f2.0, too bad they did not keep mi4’s f1.8 lens..in eddition the camera housing is to small and the OIS doesnt have much space for movement to compensate .

oil paint pattern = over sharpened edges and smoothing fine details.

Neither is bad, but not among the best.

Best possible low light performance for the price range.

The Imaging quality upgrade provided by Iphone 7 has raised expectation of consumers for better camera performance even from Mid range phones. Unless Xiaomi provides upgraded camera in Mi5s, no amount of 6 GB Ram will provide impetus in the Sales for Xiaomi. Now in secondhalf 2016, manufacturers are going to have to scramble for better imaging in phones, in order to clock sales.

Whilst I generally agree, we have to remember that camera quality on Chinese phones has improved dramatically over the last 2 years or so and it’s a trend that shows no sign of slowing (thankfully).

From what I have seen the iPhone 7 camera quality is a marginal improvement to the iPhone 6 and still doesnt match the S7, G5 or several other Androids.

i dont see any reason why anyone would buy mi5s over mi5 …

no one needs the extra ram… maybe rarely

cpu is more or less same ..

MAYBE cam is improved , ok thats one reason

    any other reason ???

Well, the Redmi Note 3 Pro atleast has a B20 version and price/specs-wise it is by far Xiomis best smartphone anyways

The size is perfect for me, I have the LG G4 but the size is bad for my runnin’ routine… I only want a better camera and battery without sacrifice the weight. I ‘m almost buying the Mi5 ceramic black but I will wait one more week for mi5s… (PLEASE BE FASTER XIAOMI)
