The UMi Z gets two new hands-free camera features (Video)

Does it ever happen to you to miss a beautiful moment because you forgot to press the shutter button? Well, according to UMi that won’t happen again. Indeed, they have just released a video showing how the new touch-free camera features work on the UMi Z.

In the video below we have a look at the Smile Detection functionality, which as you might have guessed already, snaps a photo when it detects a smile. Here’s the video:

As you can see in the video, this guy from UMi goes around what I assume is UMi’s building with his UMi Z pointed at them. Once they smile, the phone snaps a picture automatically. This isn’t earth-shattering technology but it’s still nice to see smaller phone makers adding such features to their phones.

Another touch-free functionality they added on the UMi Z is Gesture Detection. This one is a bit more common on Chinese phones equipped with MediaTek CPUs and similar camera software. It allows to capture an image when the sensor detects a V sign, whether that’s for “peace” or “victory” that’s up to you.

Unlike with the Smile Detection feature, Gesture Detection will start a 3 seconds countdown and after that snap a photo. In that time you’re supposed to prepare yourself for a selfie as that’s what you’re going to use this feature for, most likely.
