Samsung to begin 7nm manufacturing process in early 2018

According to rumors, Samsung is already planning its next steps in the chip manufacturing process, aiming for even smaller SoC’s. In case you don’t remember, the Korean company already  began producing 10nm chips last November, and has since moved the 14nm process onto the mid-range hardware.

Gizchina News of the week

Newest reports now, suggest that the company is preparing to make the first step towards the 7nm architecture and they will be ready for this early 2018. This means -in fact- that we will see the new chipsets in time for next year’s Galaxy S9 perhaps!

Following Samsung’s footsteps, TSMC is also planning to upgrade to 7nm process in 2018, while the testing is expected to begin sometime in Q2 this year. This means that – if all goes well- Apple (that is being supplied by TSMC) will be ready to use the new SoC’s in next year’s iPhone perhaps.
