Nubia smartphone owners can look forward to an upcoming Nubia UI update based on Android 7.1. More details here.

Nubia UI is the system which comes installed as standard on Nubia smartphones, but at the time of writing there isn’t a version of the system based on Android Nougat, but that’s soon going to change.

Screenshots of Nubia UI based on Android 7.1 have been released online today showing the system has received a complete makeover with new look app icons.

In addition to the changes to the look of the UI, there are a few neat features such as the ability to hold down on apps to get additional options. This is hardly new as we’ve seen this on phones with 3D/Force Touch display, but this would bring the feature to non force touch phones.

Another change is the switch from quick toggles from the notification area to a new menu found by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, anyone who has used Vivo’s Funtouch will already be familiar with this setup.

We’re not sure when Nubia plans to release the update, but we’re pretty sure the release will roll out for Chinese devices first then come to international devices.
