Breaking: ZTE show world’s first 5G smartphone at MWC


 

We’d heard the rumours about ZTE’s 5G smartphone, and at the start of MWC the phone has proven to be a reality!

With smartphone users using their devices to stream more video, music and video chat faster data connections are required to keep up with deman. 4G LTE is the fastest standard that we have at our fingertips today, but over at MWC ZTE are showing a 5G phone.

The devices is dubbed the “5uper Generation Gigabit” and boasts download speeds of up to 1Gbps!

Interestingly the handset runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem to achieve download speeds that are as much as 10x faster than currently available.

We don’t know the full specifications of the ZTE Gigabit phone as it is designed as a demo model only, but it does mean that faster 5G networks are just around the corner.

The ZTE Gigabit Phone, powered by the QualcommĀ® Snapdragonā„¢ 835 mobile platform with an integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, utilizes a combination of carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO antenna technology, and 256-QAM modulation to achieve LTE download speeds that are up to 10x faster than first generation LTE devices.
Thanks to ZTEā€™s technology strength in 5G and Pre5G Giga+ MBB solutions, the ZTE Gigabit Phone is three times as powerful at improving data processing capability in the current network. It is the cornerstone of ZTE introducing 5G to 4G networks and providing worldwide carriers with Pre 5G solutions.
