Cubot Rainbow 2 presales are up with $69.99 tag

Cubot Rainbow 2

After seeing all the official introduction and unboxing videos of the new budget Cubot Rainbow 2 it’s finally time to being real and look at the first presale offers for the phone. And like always for the first few days the price will be at the lowest point so no surprise there.

Gizchina News of the week

Cubot Rainbow 2 is a good looking device with five vibrant color variants to choose from (gold, blue, black, white and red) and a bit underwhelming hardware setup even for a budget phone. MT6580A paired with just 1 GB RAM is what it is and the absence of 4G is noteworthy. The phone can offer at least the compact 5-inch screen with 2.5D glass, 16 GB of expandable storage, rear dual camera 13 Mpix + 2 Mpix setup, 5 Mpix front camera with LED flash available, 2350 mAh battery and latest Android 7.0 Nougat as the OS.

The ultra budget aim is evident and there will be surely some takers for the dual camera phone with a low price point. The first presale offer available lists it at $69.99 with a limited stock available then it will rise up to the retail levels. All the information about the presales are in here.

So far just from dry specs on the paper I can say that they might put 2GB of RAM like they did in Note S model which was success one. Btw I’m curious if they are going to provide Nougat update to Note S when it is equipped with same SoC as Rainbow 2! Will see how they regard their customers who paid for Note S. There is no reason not to do that when Note S is more powerful than Rainbow 2!

As I’ve been saying past days, chinese phones are being raise their prices without a reason. 2015 phones with these specs were about 60$ at retail price. For 70$ we need 2GB, 16GB and a cheap octacore in 2017.

For $69, vkworld T6 has better specs, MT6735 chipset, 2G RAM+16G ROM, 3000mAh battery, 6 inch IPS display, 13MP+8MP camera. Compared to T6, I dont think this phone is worthy.
