First Look at the Elephone 18:9 Phone Prototype

Elephone aren’t done with prototypes just yet, so today we have a look at their first Samsung S8 look alike phone, which at the time of writing still doesn’t carry an official name.

Here’s the first image:

So this is what Elephone have been working on in the past month, a phone with a 18:9 aspect ratio and a big 5.72-inch display that still has a smaller footprint than an iPhone 7 Plus with a 5.5-inch display. Check out the photo comparison below.

Gizchina News of the week

Elephone say the 18:9 aspect ratio will improve one-hand operations and that the phone might come out with Android 8.0 out of the box, thus suggesting the release of the handset won’t be happening any soon.

Here are some more photos for you Samsung S8 clone lovers:

Elephone is also asking people for suggestions on how to name this device. Since the Elephone S8 moniker is already taken, what else do you suggest? Let us know in the comments below!

It does look good I must say. I hope they don’t use the Helio P25 as usual. Something with more grunt at least the Helio x25 is cool.

Does it has the 3D curved display like the previous S7?? cause the edges are shining so it looks identical to S7 curves.

The bezels looking thicker unlike usual Elephone. I personally like narrow bezels. It must have dual rear camera!

Wow the phone is looking compact in hand, but why there is black screen behind navigation bar? It can be transparent! the black part is disturbing the beauty of this device.

Nice one but this is incomplete unless I see the back of the device, camera setup and possible configuration. It should equip X30.

LOL what’s wrong with them, the entire point of those 18:9 displays is to enable much thinner upper and lower bezels.
Elephone just keeps those huge bezels and makes a taller phone…..

Exactly! these big bezels are not attractive at all

I don’t know why Elephone always reveals their future plans! I mean if it is a prototype they should show it up when everything is settled for final production. Unless it takes a lot of time from prototype to usable final consumer model.
